LIRC Ambassador Spotlight: Daniel Harvey, ERCO; David Kelley, Current Lighting; Raymond Veillette, Lumenture Lighting

Our LIRC Ambassadors are key representatives for LIRC member companies and the Lighting Industry Resource Council globally. Working closely with IALD Region + Chapter Coordinators, they engage with the local lighting design community, bolster communications, promote events, encourage networking, and promote the IALD and LIRC.

This edition, we shine the LIRC Ambassador Spotlight on three professionals of particular value to the IALD Rocky Mountain chapter: Daniel Harvey, Regional Sales Manager for ERCO North America; David Kelley, Senior Director of Specification Sales for Current Lighting; and Raymond Veillette, Director of Sales for Lumenture Lighting.

After studying Interior Architecture at Edinburgh University, Daniel Harvey spent six years as a lighting designer at the world-renowned lighting design consultancy Speirs Major, working on global projects from Miami to Oslo to Sydney.

He transitioned from the design side of the industry and joined ERCO in 2017. As a Senior Project Manager, he worked closely with prominent members of the London design community.

Having recently relocated to ERCO North America in September 2023, Daniel has taken on the role of Regional Sales Manager, working with design communities throughout the Midwest and the San Francisco Bay Area.

As a LIRC ambassador, Daniel plans to immerse himself in the local design community while leveraging his transatlantic experience and design background, as he believes that diversity is our strength.

"The synergy of the design process and product development is fundamental to the future of design in lighting," he says. "I believe this begins with open communication and collaboration and relies on transparency and unity." He intends to serve as an exemplary LIRC representative and start bridging that gap to forge a brighter future.

David Kelley has over a decade of experience guiding design professionals through challenging lighting applications. As Senior Director of Specification Sales for Current Lighting, he is responsible for supporting the execution of creative project designs in the architecture and design community.

David is passionate about lighting education and has presented AIA-accredited courses to numerous customers. He is also an active member of IES Chicago and within the LIRC.

David recognizes the transformative power that informed insights and shared experiences can have on driving innovation and progress in the industry. By assuming the role of an ambassador, he aims to contribute to the dissemination of valuable resources, best practices, and industry trends.

"By actively engaging with diverse perspectives and experiences, we enrich the collective understanding of the challenges and opportunities the industry faces," David says. "As ambassador, I am committed to promoting an inclusive environment that empowers individuals from all backgrounds to contribute their unique insights to the discourse."

Raymond Veillette began his lighting career in 2017 as a product engineer for a global lighting manufacturer based in Europe. Through excitement and interest in lighting and the design and development process, he soon transitioned into the product manager position.

He took on big-picture coordination roles in engineering, development, operations, marketing, and sales, focusing on bringing European-style products to market in the United States. In this role, he also led product training internally and externally, coordinating trade shows while bringing multiple products to market.

In 2021, Raymond joined Lumenture Lighting as Director of Product Management and entered their sales team in just over a year. He moved to the Denver area in 2022 to be closer to his sales territory and became a member of the IES Rocky Mountain section board in 2023, where he currently serves as chair of the scholarship committee.

Regarding his new role as LIRC Ambassador, Raymond believes creating a tight-knit, well-rounded, and motivated group will be instrumental in fostering a successful LIRC chapter. "At Lumenture, we often say 'one team, one dream' and mean it. Putting the right people in leadership can foster a great group dynamic and ensure that we work for the betterment of the LIRC, the IALD, and other connected organizations."
