IALD Chase the Dark for 2024 Shines On

Hundreds of light enthusiasts around the globe joined the IALD's 2024 Chase the Dark project to "upcycle" reused materials and create unique and sustainable tea light luminaires.

Over a dozen IALD Regions and Chapters coordinated social gatherings in major cities to participate, joined online through the #IALDChaseDark social media hashtag by independent lighting designers, students, and appreciators worldwide. Many local events took the opportunity to host talks and discussions on energy efficiency, sustainability, and lighting design approaches and innovations that can minimize environmental impact.

The IALD thanks all who took part and those gracious manufacturer sponsors who supported (and, in many instances, hosted) this annual creativity project. If you are interested in participating in next year's Chase the Dark theme, watch the IALD event calendar in early 2025 for what will take place on or around the 20 March Vernal Equinox.
