IALD Region + Chapter Spotlight

IALD Rocky Mountain

The IALD currently facilitates over 30 geographic Regions and Chapters within them that support the interests of our diverse lighting, design, and architecture communities. These interconnected networks provide a way to connect with like-minded individuals, create meaningful programs, and build communities that transcend borders.

In recognition of these hard-working collectives, we celebrate the IALD Rocky Mountain Chapter, who involve and engage with those in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, and surrounding areas.

The Rocky Mountain chapter is involved with a wide number of engaging and entertaining events, from project and installation tours, to community charitable drives, to the popular annual ski gathering.

To meet the needs of a substantial and active group, the volunteer efforts of four talented coordinators are put to work:

  • Lisa Bartlett, IALD is an award-winning architectural lighting designer passionate about creating spaces that support wellness. She has worked as studio lead in both specialty lighting design and multi-disciplinary environments to guide lighting projects as diverse as large hospitals, corporate offices, and civic institutions to successful completion around the country.
  • Sarah Donald, IALD has been obsessed with lighting for as long as anyone in her family can remember. Her career began in theatrical lighting, serving in all capacities, from lighting designer to union stagehand – and every role in between. Next, she was lured by the opportunity to work as a lighting director in broadcast television, prior to pursuing and obtaining her master’s degree in Architectural Lighting Design from Parsons School of Design. In addition to her coordinator role with the IALD, Sarah volunteers with the education and practice committees at the Colorado NOMA chapter and serves on multiple RP committees with the IES. She eagerly embraces all the facets of a good lighting design challenge.
  • Jack Koch, Jr. Associate IALD was exposed to the world of architectural lighting design and light’s role in the built environment while studying live entertainment lighting technology. He continues exploring the industry while working in commercial and private residential lighting design. He loves using his technical skills and lighting controls knowledge. He enjoys being active in the Denver design community.
  • Harmon Lee, Jr. Associate IALD is an emerging professional that has served a key role in establishing the Denver office of AKLD Lighting Design. With a background in architecture and formal education in lighting design from the University of Colorado at Boulder, Harmon is driven by providing clients with effective and thoughtful designs by leveraging technology and creating a sense of place.

Those interested in contacting or getting directly involved with the chapter can email the coordinators at [email protected].
