IALD Pacific Northwest: Black Box Light Play

Inspired by Black Box Theater, nine teams will draw inspiration from the Elements of Art & Principles of Design to create mini light-art installations within black boxes.

Each team will select one of the 16 Elements of Art or Principles of Design to base their light art on using only a single light socket and LED replacement lamp.

Elements of Art: Line, Shape, Color, Texture, Form, Value, Space

Principles of Design: Balance, Emphasis, Movement, Pattern, Repetition, Proportion, Rhythm, Variety, Unity

Schedule (Thursday, 23 May):

  • 5:00pm Social + Food/Drinks
  • 5:30pm Event Start 
  • 6:15pm Conclude/Review

Teams will be finalized at the event, but please feel free to plan ahead and team up with your fellow community lighting designers!
