The IALD Education Trust is excited to be a recipient of the USITT Commissioner's Grant that will fund 10 theatrical lighting design students to attend IALD Enlighten Americas 2010. Theatrical lighting design students who are members of USITT or are pending membership are eligible to apply for a stipend to attend IALD Enlighten Americas.
IALD Enlighten Americas is best suited for students looking to pursue a career in lighting design or who have an interest in architectural lighting design. Students will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on lighting charettes, network with industry professionals, receive porfolio reviews and much more.
Theatrical lighting design students who wish to apply for the stipend must submit a complete application as well as a portfolio of 1-4 projects that follows the official IALD Education Trust stipend portfolio template. See application for more details.

Best suited for students looking to pursue a career in lighting design, the stipend is intended to cover registration, airfare, hotel and meals. Enlighten Americas offers an intimate venue with 250+ lighting designers, architects, engineers and manufacturers. Daily seminars, split into three tracks, focus on different aspects of the lighting profession and current issues impacting the lighting industry. Evening networking dinners and the optional Student Portfolio sessions allow interaction with IALD members, and the potential to discuss post-graduation and internship employment. LightPlay, a design problem solved by student teams and displayed at the Thursday evening reception, is an integral part of the experience.

Best suited for advanced lighting students looking to pursue a career in lighting design and interested in a hands-on lighting experience in landscape lighting. The stipend is expected to cover class fee + funds to offset travel, bed & breakfast accommodations, and meal expenses. This 5-day, 5-night comprehensive landscape lighting experience, taught by Janet Lennox Moyer, IALD, author of ""The Landscape Lighting Book,"" includes a full-scale mockup of the Gardens at Dog Park using all major manufacturers' equipment.

2011 IALD education trust Scholarship Program

Applicants for the scholarships must be students who are pursuing architectural lighting design as a course of study. Applicants will be judged on grades, extracurricular activities, a portfolio of work, a personal statement as well as professional recommendations.
The IALD Education Trust is pleased to offer multiple scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000 USD for undergraduate and graduate students involved in the study of architectural lighting design. THOMAS M. LEMONS SCHOLARSHIP

The IALD Education Trust is pleased to announce the Thomas M. Lemons Scholarship (TMLS) established through the lighting design firm Available Light. The winning recipient of the TMLS will be awarded $4,000 to assist with expenses such as tuition, room and board & books. This student must be a United States citizen and be committed to studying and practicing in the field of architectural lighting design in the United States.
The scholarship will be awarded in May 2010, with the winning recipient announced at the IALD Education Trust Benefit Dinner at LIGHTFAIR International in Las Vegas, NV USA.
