What is the IALD Education Trust?

Provides scholarships directly to students for the purpose of promoting the study of lighting design. Scholarships awarded annually total over $35,000 USD. To view past winners, click this link.

Conducts studies and research to justify and define the benefits of quality lighting, such as research regarding the metrics of quality.

Produces and provides teaching tools for the purpose of educating professional lighting designers, students, educators, and persons in related fields.

Assists universities in teaching lighting design through the distribution of kits in optics and lamp color, currently to a test program of 20 schools. Light meters have been distributed in the past to over 100 schools to provide students with equipment knowledge and hands-on expertise they may not experience without the IALD Education Trust.

Biannually, the IALD Education Trust develops a CD of IALD International Lighting Design Award winners to share with lighting design educators, featuring downloadable lighting drawings and additional project details.
