Durham Marenghi will be explaining and illustrating his approach to lighting spectacular live events such as the Winter Olympic Ceremonies, Buckingham Palace for the Queen's Golden Jubilee, the Pyramids in Giza, New Years Eve from the London Eye and the Royal Opening of St Pancras Station. Aspects covered will be creating effective theatrical lighting for a live audience and high-definition television, and the illumination of architecture for events and building opening ceremonies.

Only 9% of Nepal is supplied by grid electricity, most children must study using polluting kerosene lamps. There is therefore a very high rate of bronchial disease in Nepal. The installation of solar panels will not only provide a cleaner source of electricity and lighting for the school (which is currently off-grid) but also a healthier learning environment.
